THE FILM “UN PROPHÈTE” AND THE SHORT “PARKING” WIN IN MANRESA, IN AN EDITION WITH AN AUDIENCE OF 7000 PEOPLE.
The story of Malik, a young Arab condemned to prison and his relationship with the band of Corsicans than dominate the penitentiary has been the “Plácido de plata” winner of the best crime genre film in the eleventh edition of Manresa’s International Festival of Crime Cinema. “Un prophète”, directed by Jacques Audiard, had yet won the Grand Prix of the Jury at the Cannes Festival. On the other hand, the “Plácido” price to the best short has been given to “Parking”, by Jorge Molina.
There have also been special mentions for “Film Noir”, by D. Judd Jones and Risto Topaloski, and for the short “Parenthesis”, by José Luis García-Pérez.
The eleventh edition of Fecinema has closed with a very positive appraisal by the organizers who, before making a definitive count, advanced that the Festival had been an audience success, with more than 7000 spectators.
The closing gala, whose final item was the projection of the award-winner “Das Weisse Band”, by Michael Haneke, also served to hand over the prices of this edition:
• To the best poster and image of the Festival: Bernardo Jiménez for “La Mafia del Casino”.
• To the best short: Jorge Molina for “Parking”.
• To the best film: Jacques Audiard for “Un prophète”.
• And the three “Plácido de Honor” to the actor Jordi Dauder, to the writer and journalist Francisco González Ledesma and to the DDT Special Effects company (which received an Oscar for its work in “El Laberinto del Fauno”) in the persons of Montse Ribé and David Martí.
